Ultra-High Purity Tubing
Precision-engineered stainless steel tubing for the most critical applications, where even trace contamination must be eliminated from the gas, chemical or fluid being carried.
Cleanliness treated as a specification, not a claim
UHP tubing is used to transport ultra-high-purity gases, chemicals and fluids in semiconductor, biopharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing plants. Its distinguishing features are extremely low sulphur, phosphorus and carbon content, an electropolished bore and a controlled cleaning and packaging chain.
Where standard high-purity tubing accepts an internal roughness of 0.4 to 0.8 µm, UHP tubing is electropolished to 0.127 to 0.25 µm. Cleaning follows ASTM A-380, CGA G4.1 and ASTM G93 rather than a general industrial wash.
Product ships double-bagged in Class 4 cleanroom conditions, dried with UHP nitrogen, and is supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test report plus surface analysis — not a basic MTR.
Where the difference actually sits
Bore finish
Electropolished to Ra 0.127 – 0.25 µm against 0.4 – 0.8 µm for standard high-purity tube.
Melt chemistry
Tight limits on sulphur, phosphorus and carbon rather than general allowable impurities.
Cleaning regime
Documented ASTM A-380 / CGA G4.1 / ASTM G93 process, not a less stringent industrial clean.
Packing and paperwork
Cleanroom double-bagging and nitrogen drying, with surface analysis attached to the MTR.
| Feature | UHP tubing | Standard high-purity tubing |
|---|---|---|
| Impurity levels | Extremely low sulphur, phosphorus, carbon | Higher allowable impurities |
| Internal roughness (Ra) | 0.127 – 0.25 µm (electropolished) | 0.4 – 0.8 µm |
| Cleaning | ASTM A-380, CGA G4.1, ASTM G93 | Less stringent cleaning |
| Packaging | Class 4 cleanroom, double-bagged, UHP N2 dried | Standard industrial packaging |
| Certificates | EN 10204 3.1 MTR + surface analysis | Basic MTR only |

The more of this we have up front, the faster the quotation and the fewer clarifications later. Partial enquiries are welcome — we will tell you what else the specification needs.
Send an enquiryUltra-High Purity Tubing — common questions
What makes tubing ultra-high purity rather than high purity?
Lower sulphur, phosphorus and carbon, an electropolished bore at Ra 0.127-0.25 um instead of 0.4-0.8 um, documented ASTM A-380 cleaning, cleanroom packaging and surface analysis with the MTR.
How is UHP tubing packed?
Double-bagged under Class 4 cleanroom conditions and dried with ultra-high-purity nitrogen, with end caps retained until installation.
What certification is supplied?
An EN 10204 3.1 mill test report together with surface analysis, rather than a basic MTR.
Which industries require UHP tubing?
Semiconductor fabrication, biopharmaceutical production and advanced manufacturing where trace contamination would affect yield or product safety.
